We were looking for a landscape design and construction service for the backyard of our new home in Phoenix. My wife found Diamond Stone & Synthetic Grass online, with good reviews, so we decided to get a quote from them. The project manager, DANIEL, responded and did the measurement for our backyard. He explained to us the materials and the labors. And the most importantly, the grading to direct water out of the backyard and away from the foundation of the house. In the same afternoon, he sent us the quote, the detail measurement, and the selections of materials. The quote is much better than what we expected, so we decided to hire them for this project. While the construction is ongoing, Daniel always kept us updated. We asked a lot of questions during the process, to prevent mistakes caused by misunderstanding. Daniel and his team always responded in a timely manner. The whole team is knowledgeable, friendly, and patient. They took care of the questions and issues we brought up, and the project ends up awesome. When I saw the outcome, I have nothing else to say but WOW. There was a tiny hiccough that the paver was too close to the gate, causing it hard to close. Once we brought it to Daniel's attention, his team showed up in two days and fixed it. How can we not appreciate a team taking care of problems so quickly? We are very happy that we chose DSSG to do our backyard.

Extremely satisfied with diamond stone. Daniel was very friendly and helpful during the consultation. I met with so many different companies, but knew almost immediately I’d go with them because of how Daniel communicated and made me feel confident in their work. The crew was very quick and professional as well. We got new turf installed and it looks amazing! Even after it was done, they have been communicating with me all the way. Great service and reasonable prices.

Carry a considered finish through your outdoor rooms.

Plan travertine & porcelain tile around the way you want to use your Phoenix property.

Look at the surface as part of the room.

A finish beside the architecture

Place samples beside the exterior walls and any retained stonework. Look at the range of color and texture in the proposed material and how it relates to the larger surfaces around it.

A layout built around furniture

Set out dining and lounge areas before confirming the paving dimensions. Review the routes around chairs and through doors so the finished patio supports the way you want to gather outside.

Details at the edges

Steps, pool surrounds, lawn borders, and planted beds give the surface its boundaries. Discuss how the material ends at each one, including changes in level and any contrasting edge detail.

Bring the Phoenix patio and landscape palette together.

Collect photos or samples of finishes that are already decided, including walls, pool details, and outdoor kitchen counters. A new surface should be considered beside those choices. Review the proposed material outdoors and ask to see enough variation to understand how a larger installation may look.

The paving layout also affects the relationship between outdoor rooms. You may want a continuous finish from a covered patio to an open terrace, or a defined change where a separate lounge begins. Work through those connections with furniture, shade, and planting before confirming dimensions and installation boundaries.

Prepare for your consultation.

  • Exterior finishes and samples to coordinate
  • Furniture sizes and the routes around them
  • Connections to the pool, lawn, or garden
  • Questions about the selected product and its care

Ask about 3D landscape renderings when you want to discuss the proposed appearance before installation.

Confirm the material and the preparation it needs.

Your proposal should specify the product, layout, and installation approach for the intended outdoor use. Discuss the existing surface, removal or preparation, joints, and perimeter details. Review product-specific guidance on care and suitability for the proposed area. Where water movement or adjoining levels need attention, include that work in the project scope before the finished surface is installed.

Travertine & Porcelain Tile in Phoenix: your questions

You can discuss different finishes for separate areas, but review their visual relationship and installation details together. A defined transition should be part of the layout rather than an unresolved join between materials.

Consider color variation, texture, piece size, and the appearance beside your existing finishes. Ask for specifications and care guidance for the exact product proposed for your outdoor application.

Plan the pergola footprint and paving together. Post locations, installation sequence, furniture, and finished levels can affect the layout and the work required before the surface is completed.

It helps to compare them in the same material discussion. The patio, island, counter, and house will be visible together, even if you select or install them at different times.

Share your Phoenix location, photos, approximate area, and the intended use. Mention existing surfaces to remove or retain and any connected landscape work so the proposal reflects the whole project.
