Mike and his team did a fantastic job bringing our vision to life. Our backyard was dirt with a pool and casita. The transformation is amazing and the workmanship was excellent. They were professional and had great communication, which we appreciated. We would highly recommend them for any job you have.

Diamond stone was a blessing to work with. Communication was easy, everyone was punctual and easy to work with. They helped us pick a turf that would better suit our needs and were done with the work in 2 days. Everything looks amazing and I will absolutely be using them for future projects.

We were looking for a landscape design and construction service for the backyard of our new home in Phoenix. My wife found Diamond Stone & Synthetic Grass online, with good reviews, so we decided to get a quote from them. The project manager, DANIEL, responded and did the measurement for our backyard. He explained to us the materials and the labors. And the most importantly, the grading to direct water out of the backyard and away from the foundation of the house. In the same afternoon, he sent us the quote, the detail measurement, and the selections of materials. The quote is much better than what we expected, so we decided to hire them for this project. While the construction is ongoing, Daniel always kept us updated. We asked a lot of questions during the process, to prevent mistakes caused by misunderstanding. Daniel and his team always responded in a timely manner. The whole team is knowledgeable, friendly, and patient. They took care of the questions and issues we brought up, and the project ends up awesome. When I saw the outcome, I have nothing else to say but WOW. There was a tiny hiccough that the paver was too close to the gate, causing it hard to close. Once we brought it to Daniel's attention, his team showed up in two days and fixed it. How can we not appreciate a team taking care of problems so quickly? We are very happy that we chose DSSG to do our backyard.

Extremely satisfied with diamond stone. Daniel was very friendly and helpful during the consultation. I met with so many different companies, but knew almost immediately I’d go with them because of how Daniel communicated and made me feel confident in their work. The crew was very quick and professional as well. We got new turf installed and it looks amazing! Even after it was done, they have been communicating with me all the way. Great service and reasonable prices.

Mesa homeowners most often request synthetic grass, paver patios and driveways, pergolas and patio covers, and full backyard remodels combining several services into one project. A full backyard remodel in Mesa typically runs $15,000–$50,000+ depending on scope, while single-service projects like turf or a paver patio cost considerably less.

Mesa’s blend of established neighborhoods and newer East Valley development means both lot sizes and existing landscaping conditions vary widely — some projects start from an established yard needing a refresh, others from a newer home with a blank slate.

Landscaping Services Mesa Homeowners Request Most

Synthetic Grass — eliminates water costs and lawn maintenance while keeping a yard green year-round; the most requested single upgrade across the Valley, Mesa included.

Pavers & Hardscape — patios, driveways, and walkways in concrete, travertine, or porcelain, selected based on budget and desired lifespan.

Pergolas & Patio Covers — shade structures that determine whether a backyard gets used through Arizona’s hottest months; see our pergola options for available styles.

Decorative Rock — low-water ground cover for side yards and low-traffic zones, often paired with turf for a complete low-maintenance yard.

Full Backyard Remodels — combining multiple services into one coordinated project, typically more cost-effective than tackling each piece separately over time.

What Does a Landscaping Project Cost in Mesa?

Project ScopeTypical Cost Range
Single service (turf, or pavers, or a patio cover)$6,000 – $18,000
Two combined services$15,000 – $30,000
Full remodel (turf, hardscape, shade, lighting)$30,000 – $60,000+

What to Look for in a Mesa Landscaping Company

  • Active ROC license, bonding, and insurance — verify directly at ROC.gov before signing anything.
  • Experience specifically with Arizona’s climate and soil conditions — proper base depth, drainage planning, and UV-resistant materials matter more here than in other regions.
  • A single point of contact for multi-service projects, avoiding the coordination issues of separate contractors for turf, hardscape, and structures.
  • Itemized, detailed quotes rather than vague lump-sum estimates.

Planning Your Mesa Backyard Project

Whether you’re doing a full remodel or a single upgrade, planning the full vision upfront — even if executing in phases — avoids costly rework later. Deciding where future features like an outdoor kitchen or additional shade will go before finalizing hardscape layout is one of the simplest ways to save money across a multi-phase project.

Frequently Asked Questions

What’s the average cost of a backyard remodel in Mesa, AZ? Full remodels combining turf, hardscape, and a shade structure typically range from $30,000–$60,000+, with single-service projects available for significantly less.

How long does a landscaping project take in Mesa? Single-service projects like turf installation often take just a few days, while full remodels typically take 3–6 weeks depending on scope and permitting.

Do I need a permit for landscaping work in Mesa? Requirements vary by project type — structures like patio covers and pergolas typically require permits, while turf and paver-only projects often don’t. Your contractor should confirm this.

Should I hire one company for a multi-service project? Generally yes — a single full-service company coordinates design, scheduling, and site access more efficiently than managing multiple separate contractors for each piece.

Can I phase a full landscaping project in Mesa? Yes — many homeowners build in phases over a year or two. The key is planning the full design upfront so later additions integrate cleanly with earlier work.
