We were looking for a landscape design and construction service for the backyard of our new home in Phoenix. My wife found Diamond Stone & Synthetic Grass online, with good reviews, so we decided to get a quote from them. The project manager, DANIEL, responded and did the measurement for our backyard. He explained to us the materials and the labors. And the most importantly, the grading to direct water out of the backyard and away from the foundation of the house. In the same afternoon, he sent us the quote, the detail measurement, and the selections of materials. The quote is much better than what we expected, so we decided to hire them for this project. While the construction is ongoing, Daniel always kept us updated. We asked a lot of questions during the process, to prevent mistakes caused by misunderstanding. Daniel and his team always responded in a timely manner. The whole team is knowledgeable, friendly, and patient. They took care of the questions and issues we brought up, and the project ends up awesome. When I saw the outcome, I have nothing else to say but WOW. There was a tiny hiccough that the paver was too close to the gate, causing it hard to close. Once we brought it to Daniel's attention, his team showed up in two days and fixed it. How can we not appreciate a team taking care of problems so quickly? We are very happy that we chose DSSG to do our backyard.

Extremely satisfied with diamond stone. Daniel was very friendly and helpful during the consultation. I met with so many different companies, but knew almost immediately I’d go with them because of how Daniel communicated and made me feel confident in their work. The crew was very quick and professional as well. We got new turf installed and it looks amazing! Even after it was done, they have been communicating with me all the way. Great service and reasonable prices.

A material palette that carries through the landscape.

Plan travertine & porcelain tile around the way you want to use your Paradise Valley property.

Give each surface a clear relationship to the next.

Texture that complements existing finishes

Review stone variation or a porcelain sample beside your walls, counters, and retained hardscape. A coordinated selection can bring an outdoor room together without requiring every material to match exactly.

Proportions suited to the terrace

Piece size, laying direction, and the shape of the paved area influence its appearance. Consider where joints and cut pieces will fall around doors, columns, and the edges visible from the home.

A deliberate connection to the garden

A transition into planting, gravel, or turf should have a defined detail. Review borders, changes in level, and the route through the landscape so the patio feels connected to its surroundings.

Start with the parts of your Paradise Valley home that remain.

Identify the exterior finishes and existing paved areas you want to keep before introducing a new surface. The proposed material should be assessed beside those elements, including areas where old and new work will meet. A clear installation boundary helps you judge whether a defined patio improvement or a wider renovation will deliver the result you want.

For connected terraces and gathering spaces, review the entire route before choosing individual patterns. Furniture, shade structures, outdoor cooking, and planting all affect how much surface you need and where interruptions belong. A coordinated layout can guide the work even when you intend to complete the landscape in phases.

Prepare for your consultation.

  • Exterior colors, stonework, and finishes to retain
  • Where new and existing surfaces will meet
  • Desired terrace dimensions and furniture clearances
  • Material samples, access, and proposed project phases

Ask about 3D landscape renderings when you want to discuss the proposed appearance before installation.

Make the finish and the preparation equally clear.

The proposal should identify the material, layout, installation method, removal, and treatment of adjoining areas. Confirm the selected product is appropriate for its intended outdoor exposure and use. Ask about care, joints, edge details, and any drainage work. Product-specific information is more useful than broad promises about temperature, staining, or slip resistance.

Travertine & Porcelain Tile in Paradise Valley: your questions

Bring photos and, if possible, a sample of the retained material. Compare color variation, texture, dimensions, and available products. The design may use a complementary finish or a defined transition where an exact match is unavailable.

Porcelain products have different colors and appearances. Review the actual outdoor-rated options beside your home and planting. The selected finish and layout matter more than assuming one material belongs to a single architectural style.

Discuss the intended final landscape first. Levels, drainage, access, and the joins between phases can affect the work. A written first-phase boundary helps distinguish what will be completed now from future improvements.

Look at it outdoors beside the surfaces it will meet, including sunny and shaded areas. Ask for the product specifications, maintenance guidance, and recommended installation approach before confirming your choice.

Yes. Your patio surface can be considered alongside planting, synthetic grass, pergolas, outdoor kitchens, and lighting. Share the broader plan so the material choice and installation sequence support the overall design.
